Ruin yourselves! - Literature, theater, engagement

Panel discussion with book presentation

The series "Augsburg Talks on Literature and Commitment", established since 2018 as part of the cultural program for the Augsburg High Peace Festival, aims to bring together authors from different disciplines to discuss current socially relevant topics and their significance in the arts. With the anthology "Ruin Yourself! - Literatur, Theater, Engagement" (Ruined Yourselves! Literature, Theater, Commitment), a collection of contemporary voices has emerged that addresses the question of attitude and commitment in a controversial way, from different perspectives and in different formats.

In addition to authors who have already participated in the Augsburg discussion series, other contemporary voices were invited to contribute essays, interviews, poems, as well as sketches and photos. The artists Sophia Süßmilch and Claudia Holzinger have created an artistic intervention as "Süßholz" to the title "Ruin Yourself!". On the occasion of the book presentation, selected authors of the anthology will discuss the connection between literature, theater and commitment.

The MEHR MUSIK! Ensemble (directed by Iris Lichtinger) and video artist Stefanie Sixt will complement the evening with a short musical-visual program specially put together for the occasion.

An event of the University of Augsburg, the Sensemble Theater and the Peace Office in cooperation with the State Textile and Industrial Museum Augsburg and MEHR MUSIK! With the kind support of the study program Ethics of Textual Cultures at the University of Augsburg, the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture, the City of Augsburg, the Arno Buchegger Foundation and the Lattmann Foundation.
