ICE FLOWERS

Music between delicate beauty and freezing.

Ensemble Progetto '600 with Iris Lichtinger, voice & recorder | Martin Franke, violin | Lysander Francescatti, cello | Wolfgang Lackerschmid, vibraphone
With music by Henry Purcell, Arvo Pärt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Silje Nergaard, Irving Berlin, Johann Heinrich Schultzen, Giuseppe Dall' Abaco, Giovanni Sollima and others.

The physical state of ice is the focus of Progetto '600's new programme. Composers from different eras were inspired by its fragile beauty or translated it into their musical creations with descriptions of inner rigidity that melts through the power of love. The programme ranges from Henry Purcell to Arvo Pärt and even Sting. With nonchalance and a spirit of experimentation, Progetto '600 combines music from the ‘Seicento’, the 17th century, with contemporary music, bringing together the current and the historical in an undogmatic way. In their own arrangements, they create unheard-of marriages that playfully explore the sonic possibilities of the unusual ensemble instrumentation.
